Movies I Recommend
Kung Fu Hustle
That was weird. Mildly entertaining, overly ridiculous. Not sure you need to watch it unless you are really into that kind of movie.
Fisherman Friends
I was entertained. Glad we had good sound. It is sugary and predictable…..I wonder how much is real….
Bill and Ted face the music
Surprisingly not bad. Not great, but not bad. The song that saves the world was a bit too much Arcade Fire for me….. Also, the actress that plays Ted’s daughter was amazing at playing Ted.
The Edge of Seventeen
We enjoyed this movie. The drama seemed like real teen drama. Yes, the two big events are predictable, so what? Well written and acted.
Stranger Than Fiction
Great movie. Inventive. Creative. Funny. Dramatic. You should watch it.
Synchronic
A very strange movie. I’m fairly certain I enjoyed it. On Netflix.
Space Sweepers
I was very entertained. Not completely unpredictable, but fun.
Palmer
Not the most subtle or unpredictable movie. But Timberlake is good, as is the kid actor. I liked it for the most part.
East Side Sushi
Loved the characters and small scale of this. It was not surprising in any way, but sometimes that’s OK. Yesterday was is last day on Netflix…. I’d give it 3.5 out of 5. Enjoyable….
Mr Right
Most original rom com ever. I was highly amused.
Ordinary World
Good movie, and I’m not just saying that because it stars Billy Joe Armstrong…..
Spider Man No Way Home
Good movie. I have some issues with it, but good movie, if you like marvel movies.
Beckett
Intense. Only one predictable moment. I enjoyed it.
The Brass Teapot
Pretty good. Classic fairy tail. Gets dark.
The Knight Before Christmas
A pretty entertaining Christmas rom com.
Holly’s Holiday
We mostly liked this rom com. Certainly had good dialogue.
Tick, Tick…Boom
It’s a musical, do not watch it if you do not like musicals. I enjoyed this very much. They really packed the stars into one of the scenes….On Netflix. The trueish story of the guy that wrote Rent.
Dune
Good movie. Wow. They cut almost all of Arakeen out…. Lots of background not explained. I wonder how confusing it is if you haven’t read the book
Prince Avalanche
7 of 10 people that start this won’t finish it. Nothing happens. And yet, against all odds, we enjoyed it.
Kodachrome
Quite good….almost. more in the comments……The ending was predictable and sappy
Gunpowder Milkshake
Holy violence and gore! About the most violent thing I’ve seen in a long time. Stylistic and well acted. Not for everyone. I liked it.
I Am Mother
Had no idea what it was. I liked it, but it was missing something……
That Thing You Do
Nice movie. I mean, no real surprises, but I enjoyed it. Though if you don’t like the song, you’re going to get annoyed at some point…..
Nomadland
Hmmmm. I might not be intellectual enough to love this. I liked it. I was never bored. But it isn’t the greatest ever…. but if you like thinkers, you’ll like this. Real people. Great acting.
About Time
You think it’s going to be a rom com… And it starts that way, but then gets serious. Ok to good…. I’m not sure if I’d recommend it or not.
Movies You Might not Want to See
Tomorrow War
One of the dumbest movies I’ve ever seen. Especially the last act. Wow. Also, predictable, mostly. It will keep you awake though.
Outside the Wire
Close, but no cigar….. it has some interesting ideas, but they are largely poorly executed. No need to watch this.
Holiday in the Wild
Terrible. Every moment was predictable. The writing was bad. Do not watch.
Thirty Minutes or Less
As I told Julianne…..I was amused by this bad movie. But it is stupid. Most people won’t like it I think.
The Vault
Decent, not great. Predictable at times. The ending was stupid.
Triple Frontier
Could have been good. Nothing worse than smart people being stupid over and over to drive plot….
Ghost Town
The occasional funny moment, but you don’t need to watch it. You won’t hate it, you won’t love it.
Christmas in Palm Springs
Wow, that was bad. We couldn’t decide if the child actors were bad, or if the director and writer were their problem. Given the rest of the movie, certainly the writer and director made them worse than they were.
Godzilla vs Kong
Watching this on the tiny airplane screen probably didn’t help, but this movie’s plot was awful. Seriously.
*what I wrote on FB, now that I can find it: Another stupid movie in a franchise filled with stupid movies. But the fights were entertaining…. Mostly.
Matrix resurrections
As Nathan said, that awful song at the end put a bow on an awful movie. You warned me, and I still did it. My mistake.

So mediocre. There were good parts, and the idea of the villain was great. There were also so many bad parts. There were no repercussions of the world living thru that? Ugh.
