Another thing I’m trying to figure out……about You Were Always Alone….how do the ships’ personalities work?
Without giving it totally away, the spaceships become conscious. Do they develop personalities based on human emotion, or based on how society is organized? Empathy / Anger / Love / Jealousy? OR. Capitalism / Socialism / Feudal?
I’m not sure it matters. It probably matters if I have 11 or so “planets”. That was the original plan. A lot of different societies to explore if I want. But, I’m wondering if that really is a good idea, or if it even matters. I think 11 is overkill. Probably. I tend to make things more complex than they need to be. There likely isn’t any good reason to have that many worlds, other than opening up space for sequels, which, really?
I’m not even sure the ships matter all that much. I imagine the societies are driven by which ship dropped them off. They likely have “angels” they left behind there to guide things a bit. And, clearly, they set a glass ceiling on the technology of the worlds. Do they all interfere, even if they said they wouldn’t? Do some interfere? If so, do others react? Does any of this matter, other than as a plot device? I have no idea at this point. And, frankly, that makes me a bit nervous.
I feel like I should have a plan for the ships, and their role. Beyond what little I have right now as the AI that sets up each unique society. Dang, given my population issues, maybe it isn’t worlds, but continents? Or a combo? Hmmm…..
