Recently someone met with one of the early players of Dungeons and Dragons, Bill Wilkerson. They scanned a lot of paper, and put it here for all to see. Among the items was a dungeon that Bill submitted as part of a contest to TSR back in the late 70s or 1980 (give or take). This post shares the one of the maps from Bill Wilkerson’s adventure, along with some very comments. Note: SPOILERS.
The Rooms are Large
Some of these rooms are bizarrely large. The 110 foot long room on the West is basically a huge room where monsters are birthed (I’d think the entire dungeon would be filled with them by now, or maybe they kill each other in the room?).
The 50×50 room south of the circle of 10×10 rooms? The party meets a human there and he gives them a very short message. Why is it 50×50?
Except the 10×10 Rooms!
Spoiler: Uh, how the heck did a magic user in this edition of the game survive what is here? No idea. If you aren’t familiar with the rules, they used random die 4 for hit points….
I’ll likely add some perspective shots at some point, if anyone finds this page…..as I built this in a 3d mapping tool.
